CFC-Chiangmai had a successful Covenant Orientation last Sunday at the small chapel beside the Sacred Heart Cathedral conducted by JayR/Tess Pandaan, Council members and Chapter leaders for Central Bangkok, and supported by/Letty Itao, Council members and mission area directors for the Chiangmai diocese.

Due to the difficult logistics requirements and coming ordination/installation of a new bishop for Chiangmai, the planned 3rd Medical Mission to Chiangmai in April, to coincide with blessing of the new San Lorenzo Ruiz church being built by the diocese in a remote hilltribe village with support from the SLR foundation in New York/New Jersey, is cancelled at this time. Access to the village is difficult and quite remote (more than one hour from main Chiangmai town) and Arnold believes it will be better to choose a more accessible village for the 3rd Medical Mission instead. This will be arranged with the new bishop of Chiangmai maybe later this year or at some other time.

International Missions Director Rouquel Ponte, a member of the CFC International Council, is in town for a pastoral visit and dialogue with the Thai National Council this morning. He also plans to have a courtesy call on Cardinal Michael Michai Kitbunchu on Monday or Tuesday before he flies back to Manila.

Tomorrow our Singles of North and Central Bangkok will have their joint general assembly at Holy Redeemer church (old CCD room) starting at 2.30 pm. Also tomorrow, our SFC's continue with their Singles' CLP tomorrow afternoon at Holy Redeemer church. There were eighteen participants at the start of Module I last Sunday, 6 brothers and 12 sisters, including an American lady and a Thai YFC brother from Tharae now working in Bangkok.

Module II of our Thai CLP is scheduled for Saturday, March 7th, at Rosa Mystica church. It will be a whole day event and the parish is providing lunch. About 15 couples and three Handmaids attended Module I last Feb. 7th.

Please pray for our community activities, including our up-country missions, and our 20th anniversary celebrations in October. We're still looking for a designer to draw our logo (any volunteers please?) for this special event. Please pray for the sick among us and for those suffering from the effects of the economic crisis, for peace in the world especially for the Thai political situation and the on-going unrest in the three southern provinces bordering Malaysia. Have a pleasant weekend everyone.

God bless to all, Jimmy
